I usually write about 500 words in my weekly blog but this time I will let the photographs of my local market tell the tale themselves.
The beauty shop
A good selection of offal
Different types of rice in bulk – bought by the kilo or sack
There is plenty of cooked food available – here you have fried bananas
Or you can buy your own meat to cook at home – porcupine, bats, rats (with free flies), moles, pine martin, squirrel, fermented baby swallows, hornet lava and grubs, etc.
The more conventional chicken
Live chickens and pigs in baskets ready to take home
Pumpkins, gourds and bananas
Not sure what you are supposed to do with these twigs – they are not for the fire, definitely ‘food’.
Traditional H’mong headdresses for the H’mong New Year – now there is a feed for the next blog ….
